Since 1 July 2020, we have used 5.39 billion litres of water – which is 0.02 billion litres over the forecast for this period.
Dam level (total for 15 dams)
The dam storage levels have risen slightly this week and are sitting at a combined 44.5 per cent* of full capacity.
*Please note some dams are filled from different sources - dam levels include the transfer of groundwater and desalinated seawater from treatment plants as well as streamflow (that comes from rainfall). As we use many different sources of water, dams are no longer an accurate indicator of the health of Perth's overall water supply situation.
Streamflow (total for 15 dams)
From 1 May 2020 the dams have received 4.2 billion litres of streamflow. The post-1975 average for the May to April period (called the streamflow year) is 183.9 billion litres.
Sprinkler roster compliance
The two-day a week sprinkler roster now applies. Since 1 January 2020, we have taken a total of 3450 actions (warnings + fines) compared with 4800 actions for the same period in 2019.
Annual rainfall
Perth has received 336 mm of rainfall since 1 January 2020. The average (1994-2017) rainfall for the same period is 396.2mm (to the end of July).
General water news
Households are now able to benefit from a $100 rebate on the cost of fixing water leaks under a new program targeting metropolitan properties across Perth and Peel.
The initiative follows a recent water use study of more than 1,500 households across Perth and Peel which identified leaks in more than 17 per cent of properties.
Eligible customers who have engaged a licensed plumber to repair a leak can apply for $100 rebate on the property's Water Corporation account. For more information visit: Waterwise and Detect-a-leak
Water Corporation has awarded more than $80,000 to 12 community projects in the Kimberley and a further $100,000 to 22 not-for-profits impacted by COVID-19 at a special presentation evening in Broome this week.
