Water Corporation retains title as largest blood donor
Water Corporation employees rolled up their sleeves in 2017 to retain the title of the largest blood donor in the Australian Red Cross Blood Service’s Red25 Corporate Category – the seventh year in a row for the utility.
In 2017, employees made 853 donations, helping to save 2,559 lives. This is the largest amount of blood donations to ever be made in one year by Water Corporation.
Water Corporation CEO, Sue Murphy, said she was immensely proud of the commitment her employees had made to saving lives.
“Since 2011, our employees have made 3,894 donations of blood, helping to save an impressive 11,682 lives,” Ms Murphy said.
“At Water Corporation we have a safety goal of Zero Harm which we incorporate into everything we do - however, it is a wonderful day when we can say our employees have not only achieved Zero Harm, but have actually helped save lives.
“I would like to make special mention to our Red25 Ambassador, Chris Le Juge De Segrais and her team of coordinators who have made our blood donation success possible.”
The Australian Red Cross Blood Service is one of Water Corporation’s partners through its employee giving program, Wavemakers. The Wavemakers program allows employees to give back to the Western Australia community.
