2020 has been an exceptionally challenging year. Yet, teachers everywhere made sure education continued, whatever way they could. It’s time to recognise and show appreciation to our dedicated educators who make a difference every day.

World Teachers’ Day is celebrated in Australia on the last Friday of October. This year’s theme is Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future. Thank you for nurturing and inspiring the minds of the next generation.

Through our Waterwise Schools Program, we’ve had the opportunity to meet countless teachers and see their creative approaches to sustainability lessons.

When it comes to water, there is a lot to talk about! From the natural environment to manufacturing climate resilient sources – part of our job is helping WA value their relationship with the world of water and water use. After all, we need around 375 billion litres each year to meet our water needs.

Thankfully, remarkable teachers all over the state help spread the waterwise message and inspire young water-saving advocates. They are at the heart of efforts to equip, motivate and empower students to conserve and protect our water.

Teaching our 21st century learners about sustainability has never been more important. It’s going to be up to these students to preserve, restore and protect our water supply and make certain there’s enough, for everyone.

These are lessons that last a lifetime.
