Saving money and water with an irrigation controller rebate

• Up to 500 households can apply for a rebate on weather-based irrigation controller

• 40 per cent of household water use goes on the garden

• This week is National Water Week and all Western Australians are encouraged to spring into action to reduce their water use

Perth households can save on their water bills and reduce their water use with a $250 rebate on offer for the purchase of a weather-based irrigation controller, which automatically adjusts your sprinkler needs based on local weather conditions.

Up to 500 eligible households can apply for the $250 rebate on the purchase of a weather-based irrigation controller and there is also a separate $100 rebate for applicants who seek waterwise irrigation advice and assistance to set up their new controller.

A trial by the Water Corporation involving 60 customers found the 'smart' controllers can reduce garden water use by 15 per cent - about 95,000 litres.

Six different irrigation controller products are available through the rebate program which finishes on May 31, 2019. Customers can purchase the devices through a Waterwise Irrigation Design Shop or a Waterwise Garden Irrigator endorsed by the Water Corporation.
