Recent floods and wastewater - Broome - Sunday update
Update: Sunday 4 February 2018 - 10am
Treated wastewater stopped overflowing from the Broome North Wastewater Treatment Plant on Crab Creek Road at 6pm last evening, Saturday 3 February 2018.
The overflow from the Broome South Wastewater Treatment Plant on Clementson Street stopped overflowing on Wednesday 31 January 2018.
Please note there is still precautionary advice in place not to swim, fish or recreate in Roebuck Bay, Broome until further notice.
Water Corporation continues to work with the Department of Health, Department of Water and Environmental Regulation and the Shire of Broome. Signage remains in place to advise the public to keep away from the area. Water Corporation is carrying out water sampling, and this will inform the decision when to remove the signs.
A further update will be issued once the advisory is lifted.
It is important to note the wastewater that overflowed was not raw wastewater – it had done through the treatment process onsite.
To report any issues with your water or wastewater service, please phone Water Corporation on 13 13 75.
*Wastewater is 99.97 per cent water as it comes mostly from showers, baths and washing machines.
