Rapids Landing Margaret River recognised as a Waterwise School

Rapids Landing Primary School, Margaret River, was recognised as Western Australia’s 585th Waterwise School at a special assembly last week. 
 
Through Water Corporation’s Waterwise Schools Program, teachers have been educating students on the need to value, protect and conserve water resources.

Water Corporation South West Regional Manager John Janssen thanked the school for supporting the Waterwise message.

“Due to the impact of climate change, it’s never been more important for the next generation to become aware of how precious water is to ensure we have a sustainable water future,” Mr Janssen said.

“Students have been learning about the importance of protecting our oceans and water ways, and how making small changes to their daily water use habits can help save water.

“The Water Wall created by the Year Six students was a great way to communicate to students, families and staff how precious water is.

“Thank you, Rapids Landing, for your dedication to the program.”

Rapids Landing Primary School Waterwise Coordinator Sharon Wostear said the school strived to emphasise the importance of environmental sustainability to all students.
 
“We give them experiences and opportunities to take action to conserve precious resources, such as water,” Ms Wostear said.

“Our students care about the environment, and spread the conservation word to their families and the community.”
