Water use
Average daily water use over the last week was 750 million litres, which was below the forecast of 803 million litres. Since 1 July 2018 we have used 240.1 billion litres of water, which is 9.6 billion litres below the 249.7 billion litres we had forecasted.
Dam levels
Over the last seven days, Perth’s dam storage levels have slightly risen from 137.8 billion litres to 138.4 billion litres of usable storage (0.1 per cent). Perth’s dams store water from three different sources… groundwater and desalinated seawater transferred from treatment plants as well as streamflow (produced by rainfall).
Sprinkler roster compliance
The two-day-per week sprinkler roster now applies, and our inspectors issued 31 warnings and 57 fines last week. Since 1 January 2018 we have taken a total of 3149 actions (warnings + fines) compared with 3359 actions for the same period in 2017.
Rainfall
Thanks to some April showers on the weekend we have received 20.6 mm of rainfall so far in April – the April average is 44.2mm. Since 1 January 2018 we have received 129.8mm of rainfall, which is above the cumulative monthly average of 85.9mm.
General water news
We take breaches of the sprinkler roster seriously – but we know it can be hard to figure out what’s allowed and what’s not. Check out our watering do’s and don’ts page https://www.watercorporation.com.au/save-water/watering-days/dos-and-donts for a simple list of actions.
You can report a breach at any time by using our online form
Once you have reported a breach one of our water efficiency inspectors will follow it up. If our inspector sees the sprinklers running at the wrong time, evidence is gathered and a fine will be issued.
