Meadow Springs PS recognised waterwise

Meadow Springs Primary School was today recognised as Western Australia’s 580^th Waterwise School at a special school assembly.

Through Water Corporation’s Waterwise Schools Program, teachers have been educating students on the need to value, protect and conserve water.

To celebrate the milestone, students were treated with a visit from Water Corporation’s leak detection dog, Kep, to learn about how she has been trained to sniff out water leaks across the state. 

Water Corporation General Manager Customer and Community Group Karen Willis thanked the school for supporting the waterwise message.

“Climate change continues to impact our water supplies, so it’s important the next generation is aware of how precious water is to ensure we have a sustainable water future,” Mrs Willis said.

Meadow Springs Primary School Waterwise Schools Program Coordinator Jennifer Millum said Meadow Springs Primary School had always been focussed on sustainability.

“It is a wonderful achievement for our school community to be formally recognised as waterwise. Students have been busy making water saving booklets and pamphlets to share with their school community,” she said.

“Students also enjoyed participating in National Water Week activities with the Peel-Harvey Catchment Council having learned about water wastage and how it impacts them and our environment.”
