Margaret River Senior High School recognised as a Waterwise School
Margaret River Senior High School was recognised as Western Australia’s 573rd Waterwise School as at a special assembly on Tuesday, 27 March 2018.
With assistance from the Water Corporation’s Waterwise Schools Program, teachers have been educating students on the water cycle and uses and the need to value, protect and conserve water.
Water Corporation South West Region Regional Manager, John Janssen, thanked the school for sharing the waterwise message.
“In our drying climate it’s important the next generation are aware of how precious water is to ensure we have a sustainable water future,” Mr Janssen said.
“An important part of ensuring our future water supply is by reducing the amount of water we all use and the Waterwise Schools Program gives students the knowledge they need to save water.
“Thank you to students and teachers at Margaret River Senior High School for your dedication to the program.”
Margaret River Senior High School Principal, Andrew Host, said students’ awareness of water issues had fostered an attitude of accountability throughout the school.
“Our students have embraced the waterwise message with enthusiasm and we have formed a Waterwise Student Committee,” Mr Host said.
“Becoming a Waterwise School has been a very positive experience for our whole school community.”
“The students are far more aware of the need to value water in the school, home and community environments.”
