Irrigation cabinet in John Macmillan Park transformed with Splash of Colour

Locals visiting John Macmillan Park in East Victoria Park may notice a bright new addition, with the State Government, through the Water Corporation, transforming a green irrigation cabinet as part of its Splash of Colour program.

The Splash of Colour Community Art Program transforms everyday assets into colourful creations that express the community's connection to water. In this case, a Town of Victoria Park irrigation cabinet has received a makeover.

Artist Melski McVee worked with students from Victoria Park Primary School last week to develop the design based on their connection to water and the natural environment.

The school will be presented with a photograph of the completed artwork at a special assembly next year to coincide with a celebration of their achievement of participating in the Water Corporation's Waterwise Schools Program for 10 years. The Water Corporation is also working with Hawaiian to display students' artwork in The Park Centre on Albany Highway.

The green cabinet in East Victoria Park is the 39th asset to be transformed through the Splash of Colour Community Art Program across Western Australia, with overwhelmingly positive feedback from the community.

Students from Victoria Park Primary School will also help Melski McVee design a 'paint by numbers' style community art project at the front of The Park Centre, sponsored by the Water Corporation and Hawaiian as part of the Vic Park Summer Street Party on Sunday December 9, 2018.
