Improving wastewater pipes in Town of Cambridge

Water Corporation has recently started work to refurbish wastewater pipes in the Town of Cambridge to extend the life of this important infrastructure by at least 50 years.

Water Corporation General Manager, Assets Delivery Nathan Hardwick, said the $4 million project formed part of an ongoing program to reline and refurbish wastewater pipes across the State.

“Around 4.4 kilometres of wastewater pipe will be refurbished over the next four months,’’ Mr Hardwick said.

“Work will take place within Floreat, City Beach, Wembley and Wembley Downs.”

Mr Hardwick explained trenchless technology would be used to reline the wastewater pipes wherever possible.

“We use trenchless technology to reline wastewater pipes where possible, to minimise the impact on the community by reducing the need for extensive excavation,” Mr Hardwick said.

“The community may notice an increase in activity along impacted pipeline routes, however traffic management will be in place at all times and disruption will be kept to a minimum.”

The refurbishment project will be completed in July 2019.
