Highgate Primary School celebrate a decade of waterwise education

Highgate Primary School celebrated 10 years enrolled in Water Corporation’s Waterwise Schools Program at a special assembly last Friday. 

Over the past decade teachers at Highgate Primary School have educated students on the need to value, protect and conserve water resources.

Water Corporation General Manager Customer and Community Group, Catherine Ferrari, thanked the school for sharing the waterwise message.

“Climate change continues to impact our water supplies, so it’s important the next generation are aware of how precious water is,” Ms Ferrari said.

“Thank you to teachers and students at Highgate Primary School for your dedication to the program and for sharing the waterwise message for the past 10 years.”

Highgate Primary School Waterwise Coordinator, Tania Bertocchi, said since being a Waterwise School, students were more aware of how to conserve water.

“Our students are turning off taps when brushing their teeth and washing hands and we are using native waterwise plants in our garden,” Ms Bertocchi said.
