Dunsborough and Districts Country Club has partnered with Water Corporation to help save 716,000 litres of precious drinking water by retrofitting inefficient showerheads, toilets and taps.
More than 40 fixtures were repaired or replaced at the club’s Gifford Road premises, helping members reduce water consumption and lower their bill.
Part of Water Corporation's Waterwise Towns program, the retrofit saw inefficient taps replaced, waterwise showerheads installed and repairs to toilets and urinals throughout the club.
Water Corporation South West Regional Manager Nicky Waite said members were already reaping significant water-saving benefits.
“Through these seemingly small changes to fixtures and fittings, the club is expected to save more than double the amount of water used by an average household in a year,” Ms Waite said.
“We think that’s worth celebrating because it highlights just how effective modern, water-efficient fixtures are.
“Western Australians understand every drop of water is precious, which is why community partnerships like this are important in helping ensure secure, sustainable drinking water long into the future.”
The added benefit of using less water use, according to Dunsborough and Districts Country Club President John McCallum, was also lower bills.
“Not only have we saved a lot of water, we’ve saved a lot of money off our water bill in the process and that’s important for our members,” Mr McCallum said.
“The opportunity to work with Water Corporation on such an important project has been fantastic and I’d encourage other organisations to look at ways they can also reduce water consumption.”
