Bull Creek Primary School celebrates 10 years as Waterwise

Bull Creek Primary School celebrated 10 years enrolled in Water Corporation’s Waterwise Schools Program at a special assembly fittingly held today during National Water Week.

Over the past decade, teachers at the school have actively been educating students on the need to value, protect and conserve precious water resources.

Water Corporation Customer and Community General Manager Karen Willis thanked the school for sharing the waterwise message.

“Climate change continues to impact our water supplies, so it is important the next generation understand the value of water and adopt waterwise behaviours to ensure we have a sustainable water future for generations to come,” Mrs Willis said.

“This year’s National Water Week theme is ‘It’s time to change the world’ and it’s wonderful to see students dedicated to supporting the important waterwise message and taking small steps for positive change.

"It is great to also hear students have been rolling up their sleeves and getting their hands dirty with the school launching a new sustainability garden and program.”   

Bull Creek Primary School Waterwise School Coordinator Sarah Pratt said the school was proud to help educate students on the importance of being waterwise.

“Students have really embraced the celebration of National Water Week wearing blue for the day, eating blue food from the canteen and creating pieces of art depicting water,” she said.

The school choir also recently performed at the Mass Choir Festival at the Perth Concert Hall singing “Lifeline” – a song about C.Y. O’Connor creating the pipeline to the Goldfields – in recognition of National Water Week.

The choir aptly performed this song again for the whole school to enjoy at today’s special assembly.
