Are your sprinklers set to your correct watering days
Water Corporation wishes the Perth community a happy festive season - but before you take off for a break, we want you to check your sprinklers are set to the correct days.
The two-day-per-week sprinkler roster is in place across Perth, with scheme water users able to use sprinkler systems once per watering day, either before 9am or after 6pm. Watering days are determined by the last digit of a household's street number. To find out your watering days, go to watercorporation.com.au
Struggling to work out how to program your sprinkler system? The Watershed Water Systems website contains the manuals of most sprinkler systems sold in Western Australia over the past 20 years.
People who witness a breach of the sprinkler roster can make a report at watercorporation.com.au/breach or call 13 10 39. Households receive a $100 fine if they are sighted breaching the sprinkler roster by an inspector, and a warning if they are reported by a member of the public, or if an inspector observes sprinklers have been used.
Another reminder for the festive season – don’t tip fat from your Christmas turkey, ham or grease from the barbeque down the sink. Once fat cools down it solidifies, causing blockages to pipes in homes and the wastewater system.
While our wastewater crews would love to visit your home for Christmas lunch, this is not the kind of gift you want to receive!
Pour fat from your Christmas ham and grease from the barbeque into a container and dispose of it in the bin. Also, don’t dispose of food scraps down the sink, these also belong in the bin.
This extra effort will protect your home and the 13,000 kilometres of wastewater mains we look after across Perth and Mandurah.
