Allanson Primary School celebrates 20 years as waterwise
Allanson Primary School celebrated 20 years enrolled in Water Corporation’s Waterwise Schools Program at a special assembly last Wednesday.
Over the past two decades teachers at the school have educated students on the need to value, protect and conserve water resources.
Water Corporation South West Regional Manager, John Janssen, thanked the school for sharing the waterwise message.
“Our water supplies continue to be impacted by climate change, so it is important the next generation understand the value of water and adopt waterwise behaviours,” Mr Janssen said.
“Students at Allanson Primary School have been working to become more sustainable and environmentally friendly in their daily activities.
“In the last few months they have learnt how to save water by mulching the school’s garden and modifying its reticulation system, as well as how to care for our catchments.
“We hope the Waterwise Schools Program continues to inspire students to develop a positive, life-long commitment to sustainable water use.
“Thank you Allanson Primary School for your dedication to the Waterwise Schools Program – we look forward to the next 20 years.”
Allanson Primary School Principal, Simon Paton, said education played an important role to create waterwise communities.
“Being part of the Waterwise Schools Program has assisted in developing our school ethos about being waterwise,” Mr Paton said.
“It has highlighted the important role schools and communities play in helping to conserve water in our environment.”
